What these events are all about
A Slice of Pie, and a Dash of Service: Refreshments + Connection is exactly what it sounds like, a friendly, drop in gathering centered on refreshments, conversation, and community. Each event offers a chance to:
- Enjoy complimentary pie, coffee, and light refreshments
- Meet AARP staff and local volunteers in an informal setting
- Learn how people support their community in small, flexible ways
- Ask questions, listen in, or simply enjoy connecting with neighbors
There’s no expectation to sign up for anything. This is about learning, connecting, and exploring at your own pace.
A “dash of service” can look different for everyone
For those who are curious, AARP staff and volunteers will share examples of how people lend a bit of their time in ways that fit their interests and schedules, including:
- Community relations and engagement
- Advocacy support
- Sharing information as an AARP Presenter
No experience is required, and training and support are available. Many opportunities are designed to be flexible, so whether you’re looking to do a little or a bit more, there is an opportunity for everyone!

Come as you are
You don’t need to prepare anything — just bring yourself, your curiosity, and maybe an appetite for pie.
Come for the refreshments. Stay for the conversation. Leave with ideas for making a difference in your own way.
We hope to see you at the Lancaster Public Library this June.
