Tell Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners: Reject Another PSO Rate Hike

Oklahoma families are already paying more for groceries, prescriptions, insurance and other necessities. Now, Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) customers could see their electric bills increase by another $12 a month, or $144 a year.

And this would not be the first recent increase. PSO customers absorbed a $12-a-month increase last year. Since 2013, PSO has filed 11 rate increase requests totaling more than $2.3 billion. For Oklahomans living on fixed or limited incomes, another $144 a year matters. AARP Oklahoma research underscores the financial strain: 77% of older Oklahomans surveyed said they were concerned about their electricity bills increasing further, and 40% said another increase would be a major problem for their finances.

More Ways to Benefit

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission will decide whether to approve PSO’s request. AARP Oklahoma is urging commissioners to reject the rate hike and is asking Oklahomans to speak up.

Tell commissioners what another increase would mean for you and your family. Personal stories can help show the real impact repeated utility increases have on household budgets.
