During the 2025 tax season, the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program offered services in four cities: Bismarck/Mandan, Fargo/Moorhead, East Grand Forks and Minot. Appointments were required, and all available appointments were filled at each of the four locations.
As long as volunteers are available, the service will be offered again in 2026. AARP is always looking to expand the number of locations and appointments by recruiting more volunteers. You don’t need to be a tax expert to help! Volunteer roles vary. If you are interested in becoming an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteer, please take time to learn about Tax-Aide volunteer opportunities.
Tax-Aide is the largest free volunteer-based tax preparation assistance program in the United States. The program provides services to anyone, but focuses on taxpayers over 50 with low to moderate incomes. Tax preparation is provided by volunteers who are trained and IRS certified each year, to be sure they are up-to-date on the latest changes and additions to the tax code.
