What Hispanic Heritage Month Means Here in New Jersey
Each year, AARP celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizing the contributions, history and heritage of the Latino community from September 15 to October 15. The monthlong celebration honors Hispanic and Latin Americans in the U.S. who are descendants of people from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
For New Jersey's Latino and Hispanic adults, this month is personal. It's a time to reflect on how far we've come and to tap into the tools that help families keep moving forward, together. Think of it as a full month of salud y mucho amor, with AARP right alongside you.
Health Help for Hispanic Adults in New Jersey, in the Language You Choose
Let's talk salud. Six in ten older Hispanic adults say maintaining their physical health is a top priority. Maintaining mental and emotional health (54 percent) and staying mentally sharp (52 percent) also rank high. The good news is that AARP has resources to help with all of it.

Familia First: Caregiving Resources for New Jersey Families
Here's something AARP's research makes crystal clear: for Latino and Hispanic adults 50 and older, family comes first. Family is the top personal value, with 59 percent naming it as their driving force behind health and financial behaviors. Over a quarter live in a multigenerational household, and nearly a quarter (23 percent) care for an adult, while 26 percent of grandparents provide care for a grandchild regularly.
