Volunteer With AARP Nevada

AARP Nevada volunteers make a real difference in the lives of people 50 and older across the state. Whether you live in Las Vegas, Reno, or anywhere in between, there is a role that fits your interests, your schedule, and the issues you care about most.

Choose Your Role

AARP Nevada has six active volunteer roles. Each one supports a different part of the work we do across the state.

Community Resource Ambassador

What you will do: Represent AARP Nevada at community events, health fairs, and local gatherings, connecting people 50 and older to the resources they need.

Why it matters: You are often the first face someone sees when they discover what AARP offers in Nevada.

Veterans, Military and Families Ambassador

What you will do: Raise awareness of AARP resources tailored for veterans, service members, and military families across Nevada.

Why it matters: Many Nevada families have ties to military service, and AARP has tools built specifically to support veterans, service members, and their loved ones.

Social Media Volunteer

What you will do: Share, comment on, and amplify AARP Nevada content on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube. If you enjoy photography or short video, there are opportunities to contribute that too.

Why it matters: Social media is how most Nevadans first hear about fraud alerts, upcoming events, and policy wins.

Media Representative

What you will do: Help AARP Nevada reach local news audiences by participating in interviews, writing letters to the editor, and sharing your perspective as an AARP member.

Why it matters: Your voice carries weight in your community in a way that a press release cannot.

Political Action Team Volunteer

What you will do: Support AARP's nonpartisan advocacy work by engaging with elected officials and candidates across the political spectrum, especially during the 2027 legislative session.

Why it matters: AARP wins on the issues that matter to people 50 and older by showing up with credibility and facts, not with partisanship.

Tech Support Volunteer

What you will do: Help fellow volunteers and staff run smooth events, whether that means setting up a projector at a Reno fraud workshop or troubleshooting a Zoom link for a virtual presentation.

Why it matters: Good tech makes everything else work. You keep the trains running.

Statewide Programs Also Available in Nevada

In addition to state office roles, AARP offers several national programs with opportunities in Nevada:

• AARP Driver Safety: teach the nation's first driver improvement course designed for older drivers, either in person or virtually.
• AARP Foundation programs: support the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and other Foundation work based out of Las Vegas and Reno.
• AARP Tax-Aide: provide free tax preparation for people 50 and older during tax season.
