Get Ready to Vote in 2026

*Election rules can change quickly, so the following information may be updated between now and election day. Please always confirm details with the Secretary of State’s site when making your plan to vote.

June 26 – August 10: Vote by mail or in person for the Primary Election
July 21: Register in advance to save time on Primary Day Election
August 11: Primary Election
September 18 – November 2: Vote by mail or in person for the General Election
October 13: Register in advance by October 13 to save time on Election Day
November 3: Election Day

Questions Every Voter 50+ Should Ask Candidates

Voters age 50 and older play a powerful role in every election. The decisions elected leaders make can have a lasting impact on your financial security, your family, and your future. As you evaluate candidates, ask where they stand on the issues that matter most to older Americans—and listen closely to their plans for action.

Federal Candidates:

If elected, how would you work to protect and strengthen Social Security for older Americans, their children, and grandchildren?
If elected, how would you help family caregivers save money and time so they can continue caring for their loved ones?

State Candidates:

Many Minnesotans report concerns about overall affordability. If elected, how would you address rising costs for older adults in areas like housing, health care and prescription drugs?
Each year, Minnesotans report losing hundreds of millions of dollars to consumer fraud and scams such as impostor, romance, tech-support and other scams. If elected, what will you do to stop consumer fraud and ensure relief for victims?
Minnesota has a large and growing aging population. How would you improve the long-term care system in Minnesota, including addressing workforce challenges and access so that older Minnesotans have a choice of long-term care settings?
What steps would you take to expand housing, transportation and community supports to help Older Americans who want to remain in their homes independently?”
