November is National Family Caregiving Month. Every day, Kentucky’s nearly 1 million family caregivers care for a parent, spouse, family member, friend or neighbor with a complex medical condition or disability. Together, these caregivers provide 570 million hours of unpaid care each year, valued at $8.6 billion. Kentucky family caregivers provide an estimated 570 million hours of care annually, valued at approximately $8.6 billion in unpaid care each year.

While caregiving can be deeply rewarding, it often comes with financial strain, emotional stress, competing responsibilities and little time to focus on finding help. That’s why this November, during National Family Caregivers Month, AARP is hosting free caregiving events.
Throughout November, AARP Kentucky is partnering with local organizations, health care providers and community leaders to bring caregiving resources and more directly to cities across Kentucky, making it easier than ever for caregivers to find support close to home.
In Louisville, to help adults navigate life’s next chapter with confidence, AARP Kentucky and Transcend Credit Union are partnering to present Living My Best Life: Health, Wealth & Self, a one-day conference on Saturday, November 14, 2026, in Louisville.
Designed for adults who want to thrive in every aspect of life, this dynamic event will bring together experts, community resources, and practical tools to help attendees make informed decisions about their future. Whether you’re focused on improving your well-being, planning for retirement, supporting a loved one, or exploring new opportunities for personal growth, you’ll find information and inspiration throughout the day.
The conference’s highlight is the keynote speaker, Amy Goyer, a nationally recognized family caregiving expert, author, and advocate. With more than 30 years of experience helping family caregivers, Goyer will share practical advice and real-world strategies for balancing work, caregiving responsibilities, family life, and personal goals.
The free conference also features workshops focused on three key pillars of well-being:
Health – Learn strategies to maintain physical and mental wellness, stay active, and make informed health decisions.
Wealth – Gain practical guidance on financial planning, retirement readiness, and building long-term financial security.
Self – Explore ways to strengthen social connections, discover new passions, and create a life filled with purpose and meaning.
When: Saturday, November 14, beginning at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day concludes with a social hour, and attendees who stay through the end of the event will be entered into a drawing for one of four $500 gift cards and two iPads.

In Lexington, AARP Kentucky is hosting Connected in Caregiving: Building Safety Nets, a free workshop designed to help family caregivers gain practical tools, connect with others, and access valuable community resources.
An interactive event, you'll hear inspiring caregiver stories, learn how to navigate the health care system, explore strategies for managing family dynamics, and understand when care at home may no longer be the best option. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions during an expert panel discussion and connect with exhibitors offering caregiving information and support services.
Whether you're new to caregiving or have been supporting a loved one for years, you'll leave with insights, resources, and connections to help you on your caregiving journey.
