Medicare beneficiaries can get help from AARP Hawai‘i and the Hawai‘i State Health Insurance Assistance Program to evaluate changes in their Medicare insurance and assistance in selecting the plan that best meets their needs during the Medicare Open Enrollment.

The Medicare Open Enrollment period is a yearly window from October 15 through December 7, when people with Medicare can review and change their health and prescription drug coverage for the upcoming year. In-person AARP Hawai‘i Hawai‘i SHIP workshops are scheduled from Oct.13 through Nov. 5 with a Zoom workshop on Nov. 6.

More Ways to Benefit

“Medicare Open Enrollment is the one time each year when kupuna can review their coverage and make sure their plan still meets their health and financial needs,” said Keali‘i Lopez, AARP Hawai‘i State Director. “It’s important to compare your options. The State Health Insurance Assistance Program or Hawai‘i SHIP provides help to consumers using trained volunteers so they you can get information on Medicare insurance without a sales pitch.”

The program for the workshops will consist of a one-hour presentation that will cover 2027 Medicare changes, eligibility, costs and benefits, followed by one-on-one support for attendees.

AARP Hawai`i is part of the nonprofit side of AARP and does not sell health insurance.

All workshops run from 9 AM to Noon. Choose the workshop location that's most convenient for you:
