ABOUT
Shani W. Hosten is interim vice president of Policy & Brain Health within the Global Thought Leadership team of the AARP Policy, Research, and International department. She leads cross-functional teams on AARP priorities in brain health, including reducing risk, improving care, and accelerating innovation. She collaborates with others throughout AARP to ensured brain health initiatives are aligned and grounded in sound evidence.
Prior to this role, Hosten was vice president of audience strategy in the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at AARP, where she led both the African American/Black audience strategy and the LGBTQ audience strategy. In this role, Hosten served as the national voice for AARP’s engagement with African American/Black communities and an ally to the LGBTQ community through partnerships with multicultural organizations to drive AARP’s social impact. She developed innovative strategies and AARP offerings that promote brand awareness and community engagement.
Hosten joined AARP in January 2016, bringing with her more than 20 years of sales and strategic marketing experience in the pharmaceutical, hospital and consumer packaged goods industries with Fortune 500 companies such as Pfizer, Inc. Nabisco Foods Group and Eli Lilly.
A graduate of Hampton University and Columbia University Business School, Hosten serves on several non-profit boards, is president of the Reston (VA) chapter of the Links Incorporated, a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and an active member of several other professional and civic organizations.
