On Monday, April 8, many in North America will be able to observe a celestial phenomenon: a total solar eclipse, when the moon will entirely cover the sun and cast a shadow. Many restaurants, chains and snack companies are taking advantage of the special day by offering up exclusive flavors and deals. Don’t let the opportunity pass you by: Check out where you can get freebies, discounts and exclusive promotions during the 2024 total solar eclipse — and in most cases you don’t have to be in the path of totality.

Royal Perks members can text ECLIPSE to 251251* to claim an exclusive BOGO Whopper offer. Redeem the deal during or after the eclipse on April 8 on the Burger King App or online.

Cracker Barrel

Customers can receive a free side of pancakes with the purchase of an entree. The offer is available only for customers who dine in. Just mention “eclipse pancakes” to your server on April 8.

Pizza Hut

The pizza chain is offering any large pizza for $12. This includes any create-your-own pies (up to 10 toppings) or any of the recipe pizzas on their menu including Thin ‘N Crispy, hand tossed and original pan varieties.

Raising Cane’s

If your Raising Cane’s location is within the path of totality, you’re in luck. Customers can receive free Texas toast with every Combo meal purchased. Plus, starting at 12:01 a.m. ET, the chicken finger chain is running a sweepstakes where one customer can win free Raising Cane’s for 20 years. See details online.

Chili’s

On April 7 and 8, Chili’s is offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an adult entrée. Use the code APPCLIPSE when ordering online or mention it to your server when dining in. The offer excludes the Triple Dipper and the 12- and 16-count wings (both boneless and bone-in). The offer can’t be combined with other offers.

Eclipse Exclusives

Smoothie King

Through April 8, customers can try out the smoothie chain’s newest addition to the menu: the Eclipse Berry Blitz. It’s a blend of bananas, wild blueberries, apple, blueberry juice blend, white grape lemon juice blend, protein blend and blue spirulina. Smoothie King locations on the path of totality are also giving out a free pair of Smoothie King branded eclipse glasses with the purchase of the exclusive smoothie.

Perfect Bar

The Perfect Bar is going dark and offering a new flavor to its lineup of refrigerated protein bars. The Chocolate Brownie Perfect Bar is currently available online and will be 20 percent off through April 12. Those in the path of totality can take 50 percent off of the new bar on April 8, but customers have to sign up for text notifications. Eclipse glasses will be included with online orders while supplies last. The new bar will be available in retailers in coming weeks.

Krispy Kreme

The doughnut chain is sweetening things up with its exclusive eclipse doughnut. It’s the classic glazed donut dipped in black chocolate icing topped with silver sprinkles, then piped with Oreo buttercream plus an Oreo cookie in the center. The new doughnut is available through April 8.

Sonic Drive-In

Sonic has an eclipse-inspired float, the Blackout Slush, available for a limited time. The black slush (which represents the temporary darkness of the eclipse) is cotton candy and dragon fruit flavored. It’s topped with soft-serve ice cream and blue and purple sprinkles. With every purchase of the float, customers can get a free pair of solar eclipse-viewing glasses, while supplies last.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

The ice cream brand has introduced four new Punk Stargonaut flavors. The Nebula Berry combines tastes of blueberry, raspberry and elderflower. The Cosmic Bloom is a tropical option tasting like mandarin, kiwi and passion fruit. Purple Star Born is the brand’s first grape ice cream, featuring Concord grape and black currant. While the Supermoon flavor isn’t new, it’s being revived this year; it tastes like candied violet and marshmallows. To top it all off, Jeni’s is also releasing a new topping, a fizzy popping candy called Space Dust. The Space Dust topping will be free all day on Monday, April 8.
