Perdue Foods is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders that may contain thin strands of wire.
The recall covers select lots of three products shipped nationwide and sold online with an establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the frozen package, as well as a “best if used by” date of March 23, 2025.
If you have any of these products in your freezer, throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased. Perdue offers full refunds to affected consumers.
The issue was discovered after Perdue received consumer complaints and determined that a limited number of products were tainted. “We determined the material to be a very thin strand of metal wire that was inadvertently introduced into the manufacturing process,” Jeff Shaw, senior vice president of food safety and quality for Perdue, said in a statement issued Aug. 16. “Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to voluntarily recall all of these packages of products.”
There have been no confirmed injuries or adverse reactions tied to eating these products, according to the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
