Key takeaways

  • Kayem Foods recalled about 1.58 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that may not have been kept cold enough during storage.
  • The recall covers products made from about March 31 through Oct. 7, 2026, including hot dogs, sausages, bacon, ham and turkey.
  • Consumers should not eat affected products and should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

Kayem Foods is recalling approximately 1.58 million pounds of ready-to-eat hot dogs, sausages and other meat and poultry products because they may not have been kept cold enough during storage, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The Class I recall includes bacon, ham, turkey, bologna, kielbasa and other fully cooked products in addition to hot dogs and sausages. The items were shipped to retail and food-service locations nationwide. No illnesses linked to the recalled products had been confirmed as of the agency’s Oct. 17 announcement.

More Ways to Benefit

The problem was discovered after Kayem Foods received a complaint from a retail customer about warm product temperatures at the point of delivery on Oct. 1. The company investigated and determined that a warehouse cooler storing various ready-to-eat products had experienced temperature deviations, FSIS said.

Which products are being recalled?

The recall includes numerous ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced from around March 31 through Oct. 7, 2026, and sold under these brand names:• Al Fresco• Deutschmacher• Essem• Jordan’s• Kayem• McKenzie• Triple M• Winnisimmet St. Butchery

Consumers should check their refrigerators for recalled products including:

  • Hot dogs and franks, including beef, lower-sodium, skinless and red varieties
  • Chicken sausages, including apple, maple, roasted pepper, spinach and feta, garlic, jalapeño, Italian-style, andouille and breakfast varieties
  • Bacon, including thick-cut, applewood-smoked, maple and slab bacon
  • Ham, including honey, black forest, tavern, smoked and boneless ham steaks
  • Turkey, including oven-roasted, smoked, maple-honey and hickory-smoked turkey breast
  • Other deli and prepared meats, including kielbasa, bratwurst, bologna, liverwurst, corned beef, meatballs, breakfast patties and meat loaves

Affected packages have one of these establishment numbers inside the USDA mark of inspection:• EST. M/P 7839• EST. P 20935A• EST. M 9520

Because the recall covers many products, sizes and UPCs, consumers should review the complete FSIS list of recalled products and compare it with any packages they have at home. They can also review images of the affected product labels.

Where were the products sold?

Walmart and Market Basket have posted recall information for affected products.

Walmart said recalled products were sold at select stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Market Basket also posted a recall notice for multiple affected Kayem products. The retailer serves the Northeast, but its recall notice does not specify which stores or states sold the affected products.

Consumers should not assume these were the only retailers affected. FSIS said the products were shipped to retail and food-service locations nationwide and that its retail distribution lists would be posted when available.

What should consumers do?

FSIS is concerned that some recalled products may remain in consumers’ refrigerators. Anyone who has purchased an affected product should:

  • Not eat the product
  • Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase
  • Contact a health care provider if concerned about an illness
