Finalists can see the finish line, but only one will cross it. The Voice, which has been shedding contestants since blind auditions started Sept. 23, has narrowed the race to five: Jeremy Beloate, Shye, Sofronio Vasquez, Sydney Sterlace and Danny Joseph, who squeaked through on the Instant Save. They prevailed after the first live shows on Dec. 2 and 3 and now face one last showdown as the singing marathon ends its 26th season.
The challengers will compete during the two-hour Live Finale Part 1, airing at 8 ET/PT p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 on NBC. Tuesday’s Part 2 starts with a one-hour recap at 9 p.m. ET/PT that leads into a performance-jammed build-up to the unveiling of the winner. The episodes stream the next day on Peacock. The Voice victor is determined by viewers who vote overnight via Internet or The Voice app.
Guiding the contestants through battle rounds, knockouts and stage jitters have been their coaches, returnees Reba McEntire, 69, and Gwen Stefani, 55, and newbies Snoop Dogg, 53, and Michael Bublé, 49. They also had assists from mentors Sting, 73, and Jennifer Hudson.
And they may have received minor boosts when two players suddenly and without explanation withdrew from the contest: Team Bublé’s Tanner Frick in episode 12 and Team Gwen’s Mor Ilderton in episode 14.
For the five still in the game, it comes down to, well, the voice, and whose will coax the most viewers to punch in a vote.
The singers will not only strive to outshine their rivals. They will attempt to be heard above the famous vocalists crowding the finale marquee. On Monday, season 24 winner Huntley will perform, and Bublé and Carly Pearce will sing their holiday single “Maybe This Christmas.”
Tuesday’s celebrity lineup includes Kelly Clarkson singing her new “You for Christmas,” Myles Smith performing 2024 hit “Stargazing,” Riley Green and Ella Langley taking on Green’s “Don’t Mind if I Do” and a song by duo Dan + Shay. Sting and Snoop will perform “Another Part of Me,” a new tune produced by Dr. Dre, 59. Tears For Fears will do a medley of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and “The Girl That I Call Home.” And all four coaches will sing duets with their finalists.
