Have you ever dreamed of swinging a light saber held by Obi-Wan Kenobi or snapping the bullwhip used by Indiana Jones? Now's your chance.
These and a slew of other props from some of Hollywood's biggest films (and favorites of the boomer and Gen-X generations) are on the auction block. Be forewarned: They'll likely come at a hefty price.
Heritage Auctions in Los Angeles will feature items including the Rosebud sled from the 1941 classic Citizen Kane, the snow hat worn by Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) in Home Alone, and Indiana Jones’ (Harrison Ford) bullwhip for auction from July 16-18.
“These aren’t just props. They’re mythic objects,” Joe Maddalena, Heritage’s executive vice president, said in a statement. “They tell the story of Hollywood’s greatest moments, one piece at a time.”

On the auction block
In the film Citizen Kane, the Rosebud sled is incinerated along with all of Kane's possessions in Xanadu. But there were three balsa wood sleds built for the movie scene, according to the auction house. Up for sale is one owned by Gremlins director Joe Dante, who discovered it while shooting on the former RKO Pictures lot in 1984. The starting bid for this prop is $250,000.

In the Home Alone movies, wise child Kevin McCallister was known for outsmarting awkward thieves Harry (Daniel Stern) and Marv (Joe Pesci) and for wearing assorted knitted hats to brave the winter cold. The starting bid for the prop worn in the 1990 movie is $5,000.
In 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Jones brandishes a bullwhip to defeat his enemies. The bullwhip up for auction had been presented to Prince Charles in 1989 by Ford and the film producers. The starting bid for this prop is $200,000.

A miniature of Luke Skywalker’s X-wing starfighter from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and light sabers used by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith are up for grabs. The starfighter opening bid starts at $175,000 and the light saber at $50,000.
Other props included in the auction are a blue velvet suit worn by Mike Myers in 2002’s Austin Powers in Goldmember, starting at $5,000, and a Citroën 2CV from 1981’s James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only, starting at $120,000. Artifacts from iconic director Cecil B. DeMille's collection are being auctioned at various prices on July 15.
The auction also features dozens of photographs, posters, books and other Hollywood memorabilia with online bids starting at more modest ($500) opening bids.
