The best-actress nominee for The Substance turned up the wattage in a figure-hugging Giorgio Armani Privé crystal-embroidered gown with pleating around the hips and plunging neckline. Moore, also an AARP Movies for Grownups best-actress winner, told ABC she was filled with joy at the big event. “I feel like I'm bursting,” she gushed. “[The nomination] is just still in so many ways, so unexpected and just really, just a joy. I’m just really trying to stay present so I don’t miss any of it.”

The Didi star turned heads in a chartreuse off-the-shoulder Elie Saab gown, complemented by a crisscross neckline and pooling train. Chen, a 2025 AARP Movies for Grownups best-supporting-actress winner, told AARP that after a dearth of parts in her 30s, she is seeing an uptick in quality roles for women over 50. “It is important to promote the completeness — the fullness, the beauty, the horror — the entire experience of being 50 and over,” she said.

Laura Dern, 58

The best-supporting-actress winner for Marriage Story in 2020 ditched the dress and opted for an elegant Gucci tuxedo.

Dern had a red-carpet reunion with her Blue Velvet co-star (and supporting-actress nominee for Conclave) Isabella Rossellini, 72. “We decided to come together (to the awards), because we were here first when both our mothers were nominated,” Rossellini said. Dern’s mother, Diane Ladd, received three Oscar nominations and Rossellini’s mother, Ingrid Bergman, won three Oscars.

Fernanda Torres, 59

It’s all in the family for the I’m Still Here best-actress nominee, who is the second Brazilian actress nominated for an Oscar. The first? Her mother, Fernanda Montenegro, for Central Station in 1999. Torres looked elegant in a Chanel gown that took 450 hours to make, according to the brand.

Connie Nielsen, 59

Hello, gorgeous gams! The Gladiator II actress slayed in a baby pink one-shouldered Elie Saab gown with a flowing scarf, sweetheart neckline and dramatic leg-baring slit. Nielsen was accompanied by her brother.

“It’s a nice time for us to hang out,” she told Australian television. “I’m not nominated, so I can just actually have fun. I do have to not have too much fun because I have to be coherent when I walk onto stage and do my presenter bit.”

Halle Berry, 58

The 2002 best-actress winner for Monster’s Ball shimmered and shined in a sleek gown with a broken mirror effect by Christian Siriano. “We just wanted to give her such a moment,” Siriano said. “We had the best time doing this for Halle. Dressing her for the Oscars literally was my one goal in my career, and I got to do it.”

Michelle Yeoh, 62

The 2023 best-actress Oscar winner for Everything Everywhere All at Once opted for a bold blue Balenciaga gown that she described as “amazing” on Instagram. The star has had a busy year riding the wave of the blockbuster Wicked. “The truth is, I love what I do,” Yeoh told AARP the Magazine. “Even though I say I work too much, I thrive on working. I love being with creative people. I thrive on being challenged, because then I am learning, I am evolving.”

Ava DuVernay, 52

The filmmaker looked regal in an architecturally sculptured gray silk crêpe Louis Vuitton gown with dramatic shoulders and sleek lines. DuVernay’s glamorous look was accented with David Yurman jewelry.
