Slow down in work zones for safety

Construction zone areas can be hazardous because of changes in roadway design.

With a few exceptions, temporary warning signs for construction, maintenance and utility work zones are diamond shaped, having a black symbol or message on an orange background.

  • Pay attention to where work zones begin and end and any reduced speed postings.
  • Slow down whether or not workers are present.
  • Do not tailgate.
  • Be alert for sudden lane changes or shifts.
  • Abide by the posted speed limit in construction zones.
