Grandparents raising grandchildren is a much more common event then people realize, in New Mexico, that number is 54 percent.
Staff and volunteers recently participated in two community events, the South Valley Pride Day, at the West Side Community Center, and the Fiesta de Mayo celebration, at the Barelas Senior Center.
AARP New Mexico and several other community organizations are conducting a free resource fair for grandparents, or other caregivers, raising grandchildren.
