AARP The Magazine's 2007 Road Show Kicks Off June 1 with New Online Component for ‘Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search’

8-City Interactive Tour to Feature Cooking Demos, Massages, Health Screenings and More

AARP The Magazine, the world’s largest circulation magazine, is gearing up for its sixth annual Road Show ( targeting 50+ adults at festivals, fairs and other unique lifestyle events around the country. Beginning June 1, 2007, with the Taste of Charlotte (NC) food festival and concluding at the Denver Marathon on October 13, 2007, this 8-city tour offers fun, interactive events including sweepstakes, product sampling, prize giveaways, free health screenings and massages, cooking demos, games and the popular Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search, in which AARP The Magazine looks for between five and ten Faces of 50+ in age groups 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Due to an overwhelming response from readers, the Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search will also offer consumers the chance to submit nominations free online at for the first time this year, beginning June 1, 2007. The Faces of 50+ Real People Model Search gives vivacious, active men and women over the age of 50 the chance to model for AARP The Magazine simply by submitting a photo either online or at Road Show stops.

“Since we launched the Model Search two summers ago, so many people have asked whether they could enter online that this year we’re opening the flood gates. If you’re over 50, you can register, even if the AARP The Magazine Road Show isn’t coming to your hometown,” said Steve Slon, editor of AARP The Magazine.

Also new this year, the 2007 Model Search will culminate with a “Readers’ Choice” program, in which readers will vote for their favorite Face of 50+ from a list of finalists online. The Readers’ Choice and editor-selected “Faces” will participate in a photo shoot and appear in a 2008 issue of AARP The Magazine.
