She made the big move

JOANN MAGUIRE, 75 |$50,000-$90,000 per year

"Age is no handicap on this job. It's actually a plus."

Home: Churchville, Pennsylvania

Previous life: Schoolteacher

How she did it: I got my real estate license many years ago. After I retired from teaching, I took courses at a community college to get back up to speed. A realtor needs to be associated with a company, so I interviewed with a handful until I met the right fit.

What she learned:  You can work as much as you want, and earn a substantial living.

What you need to know: Age is no handicap on this job. Age is actually a plus. I work with young families making one of the biggest choices of their lives.
