Music to Put You in Mood for Love

Turn on the right tune — and you can turn up the heat on romance

Sure, there are plenty of ways to put yourself (and your partner) in the mood for love.  But music is one of the easiest — and most powerful — ways to turn up the heat.

I’m sure you’ve got some of your own all-time favorites. But I thought I’d take this opportunity to share some of my romantic music choices.

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Roberta Flack)
The deepest, most romantic tune I’ve ever heard. Flack adds soul to this traditional folk song, and the commitment in her voice tells you that she knows a thing or two about love.

Unchained Melody (The Righteous Brothers)
This oldie still delivers the promise of passion. I get goose bumps every time I hear it.

Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons)
This classic just doesn’t age. Valli's voice pierces through your soul as he croons about a love that overtakes him.

You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like That (Toby Keith)
This sexy country ballad lets you visualize a couple pecking on the dance floor as they swagger back and forth in each other’s arms. Be inspired to do the same.

I've Got You Under My Skin (Frank Sinatra)
You can’t go wrong with Ol' Blue Eyes. Lyrics such as, "So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me," will make any woman swoon. Sigh!

Sexual Healing (Marvin Gaye)
It doesn't get sexier than this. Enough said.

I Will Always Love You (Dolly Parton)
This gentle ode to broken love delivers the promise of hope. Perhaps the sweetest breakup song ever written.

Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton)
Who doesn't want to feel that they are particularly attractive in their lover's eyes?

Help Me (Joni Mitchell)
This jazzy take on the power of love belongs on everybody’s playlist.

Wicked Game (Chris Isaak)
Listen to the lyrics and follow the suggestions. For added excitement, watch the video.

You Send Me (Sam Cooke)
This song advises us to relax and give in to our sensual side. OK, we will!
