Who Might Be Helped by the Affordable Care Act Special Enrollment Period?

In March 2021, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act. This new law includes the largest expansion of Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits since the ACA was enacted over a decade ago. In addition, the federal government created a new special enrollment period for people to sign up for health insurance through the ACA insurance exchanges.
