ABOUT

Lauren Toppenberg, PhD, MPAff/MPH, is a methods advisor, focused on financial, health, and well-being issues facing older adults. She provides methodological and statistical assistance to a variety of projects across the AARP Public Policy Institute, leading efforts to strengthen data quality, policy research design, and rigorous analytic systems to inform policy and decision-making.

Before joining AARP, Toppenberg was a social science research analyst for the Social Security Administration where she researched policy topics related to Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income. Prior to that, she worked as a data and evaluation manager for Feeding Texas, where she led data projects related to health and nutrition programs for low-income populations.

Toppenberg earned a doctorate in social policy and policy analysis from Columbia University, masters degrees in public health and public policy from the University of Texas, and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Tulane University.
