ABOUT
Cassandra Burton, PhD, is a consumer insights manager at AARP, providing strategic guidance and evidence-based insights on topics affecting older adults. Burton is a dynamic public speaker, advocate, dedicated researcher, and visionary leader in the nonprofit sector. She conducts quantitative research focused on older LGBTQ+, African Americans, people with disabilities and veterans.
Previously, at AARP, Burton was the interim director of Thought Leadership, advancing AARP’s wealth disparities strategy through rigorous research, strategic storytelling, and high impact partnerships. She was also the interim senior manager for the people with disabilities audience, playing a pivotal role in drafting the National People with Disabilities strategic plan.
Burton shares her expertise with her community. She serves on the Atlanta Mayor's One Atlanta advisory board, the Out Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the ASA Justic and Equity Board.
Burton has a PhD in Public Policy and Administration, with a research focus on health equity. She also holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Walden University and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Howard University.
