Age-Friendly Network Video: Housing as a Foundation for Stronger Communities

Towns, cities and counties enrolled in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities are working to expand housing options

These communities are pursuing housing options for people of all ages.

  • Portland, Oregon, integrated age-friendly and disability-inclusive goals into its six-year housing production strategy
  • Simsbury, Connecticut, provided local tax relief to older adults
  • Teaneck, New Jersey, celebrated the completion of an affordable housing community for adults age 62 or older
  • Nassau County, New York, mobilized local leaders through a “Housing in Our Hometown” summit that has inspired some pilot programs and a housing workshop
