Bennington, Vermont, acts as a town center for a number of neighboring small towns. The downtown area has seen a number of revitalization projects that encourage walking and community. After several community groups came together to host a pop-up placemaking event, a derelict park was chosen for revitalization due to its walkability to popular downtown and other community gathering spots. Based on a design process led by community members, the park now contains a walking path, a bicycle track, and a natural playground.

  • The AARP Community Challenge funds "quick-action" projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
