Making an Underutilized Park in Bennington, Vermont Intergenerational

Watch a video about this winning project from a 2019 AARP Community Challenge grantee

LOCATION: Bennington, Vermont
GRANTEE: Town of Bennington, Office of Community Development

Stark Street Park is located in a relatively densely developed residential area just a half-mile from Downtown Bennington and connects to the area's larger network of hiking, running, and mountain biking trails. This project revitalized the park as an outdoor recreation destination and community gathering place that reaches across generations. Grant funding was used to install an ADA accessible walking loop, benches, landscaping, and a pickleball court.

The AARP Community Challenge funds "quick-action" projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
