Ford Motor has issued a safety recall for select 2025 model year SUVs and trucks because of the potential loss of power brake assist. The issue may result in increased stopping distances, which could raise the risk of a crash.

The problem is linked to a possible malfunction in the 312,120 vehicles’ electronic brake booster (EBB) module, which is designed to reduce the effort required to apply the brakes.

When a brake boost loss occurs, the anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control and brake warning lights will illuminate. Warning messages will cycle through the dashboard display, and an audible alert will sound. Drivers may also notice a change in the brake pedal feel.

There have been no reports of fatalities or injuries associated with this concern about power brake assist, according to a safety recall report released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Vehicles affected

The recall affects 312,120 vehicles manufactured between November 9, 2023, and June 20, 2025:

  • 2025 Lincoln Navigator – 7,104 vehicles
  • 2025 Ford Ranger – 20,552 vehicles
  • 2025 Ford Bronco – 39,913 vehicles
  • 2025 Ford Expedition – 26,582 vehicles
  • 2025 Ford F-150 – 217,969 vehicles

Next steps for owners

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed beginning August 25. To resolve the issue, Ford will update the EBB module software free of charge, either with its over-the-air technology or at a dealership.

Owners can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 for more information.
