Survey findings show many Utahns age 25-64 hope to retire one day but do not have the tools or savings to make their retirement dream a reality. Many face obstacles to saving for retirement, particularly access to retirement savings tools. One in six has less than $5,000 in savings and one in five does not have access to workplace retirement savings tools.
Most agree that saving through work is important: three in four support a Utah retirement savings plan that would help Utahns build their own private retirement savings, and four in five agree that Utah should work with the private sector to develop its own retirement savings plan.
The 2014 Utah Financial Security Survey was conducted as a telephone survey among registered voters age 25-64 in Utah. The survey examined opinions and experiences related to financial security issues. A total of 1,000 interviews were conducted by Precision Opinion from December 4th to December 21, 2014.
