ABOUT

James McSpadden is a senior policy advisor at the AARP Public Policy Institute, where his work focuses on prescription drug coverage, access, and utilization issues as well as prescription drug pricing and private health insurance.

Before joining AARP, McSpadden spent six years with AARP’s government affairs team and supported AARP state offices as they advocated for health policy changes on a wide variety of health issues, including prescription drug reform. Previously, McSpadden directed the advocacy for AARP’s District of Columbia state office and served as the director of a Washington, DC-based nonprofit that provided housing and supports to low-income, at-risk older adults.

He holds a master’s degree in theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, a master’s degree in divinity from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma City University.
