David Parkes is Policy Advisor in AARP’s Policy, Research and International Affairs division and serves as a project manager for the Global Council on Brain Health (GCBH). The GCBH is an independent collaborative of scientists, doctors and policy experts convened by AARP to provide trusted information on brain health.
Prior to joining AARP, he worked at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) – publisher of the journal Science – where he spent five years analyzing and reporting on federal research budget and policy developments. Prior to AAAS, he was a research assistant at the British Embassy in Washington, helping to promote US-UK scientific collaboration.
Parkes holds an M.A. in International Science and Technology Policy from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. He graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.A. in International Studies and French.
