Are you new to your community — or maybe just looking for ways to get more involved? Why not check out an AARP chapter near you!
There are more than 1,300 of these independently incorporated entities across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and they can be a great way to meet new people, give back and have fun!
Chapters meet monthly for most of the year, and each one has its own personality and focus. Chapter activities can include meals, cultural outings and trips, and for many, community service is a major priority.
Here is a small sampling of the ways chapters serve their communities:
A National Chapter Advisory Team with regional volunteer liaisons was established to help chapters share best practices and learn from one another, to enhance the experience of members and the benefit to communities.

AARP DC Shepherd Park Chapter #2667 has found a new way to communicate with its members as well as others in the community. The chapter is now sharing photos, newsletters, special events and resources through its own website. Check out the Shepherd Park site and learn about hosting your own free web server.
