Educating a Community About ADUs
Watch a video about this winning project from a 2018 AARP Community Challenge grantee
LOCATION: Atlanta, Georgia
GRANTEE: MicroLife Institute
The AARP grant was used to create a documentary and lecture series about accessory dwelling units and the obstacles communities and homeowners face in creating these secondary housing units that exist within or adjacent to a primary residence. For property owners like James Martin (who appears in this video), having an ADU on his property provides the opportunity to rent one of the homes and live in the other.
The AARP Community Challenge funds “quick-action” projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
