AARP was pleased to present the following Feature session at Life@50+ in Atlanta:
Celebrate 50 Years of a Dream
Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, 9:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
In 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. and thousands of others descended on Washington, D.C. for the March on Washington and on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Dr. King delivered one of the most famous speeches ever, “I Have a Dream.” Now, 50 years later, AARP was honored to have three icons of the Civil Rights movement in discussion in Atlanta, live on stage. Comedian and activist Dick Gregory, former Atlanta mayor Andrew Young and former chairman of the NAACP Julian Bond sat down with Janet Taylor, M.D., for one of the greatest line-ups Life@50+ has ever put together.
AARP presented a cappella great Sweet Honey in the Rock® to open our very special March on Washington 50th anniversary session on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m. Mixing blues, African, jazz, gospel and R&B music, Sweet Honey in the Rock brought an inspiring and empowering musical force to Life@50+ Atlanta.
