Joe Castillo

Joe Castillo is a unique storyteller who draws large, fluid illustrations in sand on a light table. His live performances are choreographed to music and projected with video cameras onto a large screen. He has inspired millions of people through his “Sand Animation” and introduced many to this new art form. In mid-September 2012, Castillo reached the finals for the NBC reality show, America’s Got Talent.

Born in Mexico City, Castillo grew up in a bilingual home, surrounded by art and the cosmopolitan culture of this international city. He earned master’s degrees in art and divinity and worked in advertising for nearly 20 years.
