Jane Wagner is an award-winning actor and playwright. Her first teleplay, J.T., which was made into a TV movie in 1969, won the Peabody Award. The show also drew Wagner to the attention of Lily Tomlin, who sought help in developing her Laugh-In character, Edith Ann. Their collaboration has been strong since then.
A Tennessee native, Wagner began acting early. At age 15 she played Laura in The Glass Menagerie. As her career evolved, she devoted more time to writing, including The Incredible Shrinking Woman and her award-winning Broadway play, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, both starring Lily Tomlin.
