AARP New Hampshire Telemarketing and "Do Not Call" List Survey

New Hampshire residents support a state "Do Not Call" list which would provide more protection from telemarketing calls than the national list. In this random telephone survey of 562 New Hampshire residents age 18 and older:

  • 94 percent support a state law with more protection from telemarketing calls than the national law
  • 74 percent want the state "Do Not Call" list administered by a state consumer protection agency
  • 84 percent say that telemarketing calls are an invasion of their privacy, and 10 percent say they are a consumer rip-off.

Interviews for this survey were conducted for AARP by the University of New Hampshire between February 6 and 12, 2003. The report was prepared by Erica Dinger (202/434-6176) and Katherine Bridges (202/434-6329), both of AARP Knowledge Management, who may be contacted for further information. (7 pages)
