March 2008— Older adults and family caregivers are willing to use new technologies (such as telemedicine and telepharmacy) that can allow people to remain independent—and in their own homes—as they age. These December 2007 national surveys of adults age 65+ and caregivers age 45-75 conclude that both groups could benefit by knowing more about the range of technological innovations that are available today (and those that are on the horizon). March 2007— Few 40-plus Hispanics have experienced long-term care in a professional facility for themselves or their family. However, many have had someone in their family who required care at home from a family member, friend, or health care professional, according to this March 2007 AARP telephone survey of 551 age 40+ Hispanics. Staying the Course: Trends in Family Caregiving  / Research Report
November 2005— This AARP Public Policy Institute Issue Paper by Brenda C. Spillman and Kirsten J. Black of the Urban Institute examines trends in informal (unpaid) and formal (paid) care for persons 65 or older with disabilities. While the use of formal care declined between 1994 and 1999, the number of spouses and children providing informal care increased and family caregivers continue to provide the vast majority of the long-term care received by older persons in the United States.
