Research Report
Sislena Grocer Ledbetter, AARP Knowledge Management
February 2003
Who are the victims of telemarketing fraud? Are there psychosocial differences between victims and the general population? How do victims of lottery scams and investment frauds differ?
What behavioral characteristics should be considered in developing intervention techniques to combat fraudulent pitches? Do different types of telephoned prevention messages affect victims' responses to telemarketing fraud? Which approaches have proven most effective?
These and other questions are addressed in this study which was conducted by AARP for the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs. (164 pages)
