How does AARP help people with their taxes?

Since 1968 AARP has helped nearly 50 million low-to-moderate-income taxpayers prepare and file their taxes. With virtual and in-person help nationwide, the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide program helps ensure that older adults get the assistance they need and the refunds they deserve.

What do Tax-Aide volunteers do?

IRS-certified Tax-Aide volunteers provide free assistance online and in-person by helping to prepare tax returns, organizing paperwork, offering technical assistance, acting as interpreters and more.

Volunteer Roles

Please note: AARP Foundation Tax-Aide service is offered nationwide either in-person or virtually based on location, pandemic spread, and volunteer availability. Please explore these virtual or in-person opportunities to make a difference and volunteer safely.
