What is health and wellness at AARP?

AARP is committed to helping people take control of their health as they age. By providing valuable tools, resources and information, AARP works with volunteers to help people enjoy healthier lives.

What do health and wellness volunteers do?

Volunteers can advocate for access to affordable health care and a strong Medicare program, share information on a range of health topics, provide opportunities to stay active through online wellness or fitness classes, and more.

Friendly Voice Volunteer Caller

Listen, offer reassurance, and be a friendly voice for people 50+ who have requested a call or call into our virtual call center. This is a vital role that helps those feeling isolated and lonely, and can truly make a difference in their health and wellbeing. Opportunities are also available for bilingual Spanish volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Access to a computer with high-speed internet connection
  • Ability to use web-based video chat technology
  • Must take provided training 

Time/Frequency:

  • 3 hours/week
