FROM MISSOURI

My father Scott was 54 at the time of diagnosis. We noticed some confusion and sought treatment. They found out he had stage 4 lung cancer with metastasis to the brain, lymph, and liver. The doctor gave him 4-12 months. My mother left my father. I became his POA and began to care for him during radiation and chemotherapy. This began 18 months ago. I take pride in knowing that my loved one is being cared for at home, instead of a facility. The struggle of getting him to and from appointments became too much, and we decided to receive palliative care instead of actively seeking treatment. Things have declined and a year later, he is receiving end of life care at home. Many items are not available at an affordable cost, such as adult briefs and supplements, such as Ensure. In all of my 35 years of life, this is the time that I will cherish the most.
