FROM IDAHO
I was raised by a man who was not my biological father. He was there to give me advice or pat me on the back for a job well done. I can still hear him say "outstanding son". When my stepfather was diagnosed with end-stage CHF I knew it was time for me to return the love he showed me. I ran errands for him, cleaned him when he soiled himself, or just listened to him when he would talk about his Vietnam days. I loved this man. It was difficult to see this strong man wither away. Sometimes I would even get a little angry with him. I am however proud to be there to return the love and compassion he had shown me. He did pass away this year and I am proud to say I was my step-father's caregiver.
