FROM FLORIDA
My name is Angie and I had the privilege of caring for my mother, Elizabeth. My mother cared for my father who had cancer and passed away in 2014. After my dad's passing, my mom was never the same. You see, they had been married for 62 years. The home in which they lived was old and beginning to show its age. While her home was being worked on, we convinced her to come to Florida. I cared for my mom from Florida for years (she lived in South Carolina). I spoke with doctors, scheduled appointments, organized bill payments, and anything else mom needed. She moved in with my family and I temporarily in March 2016. Mom worried about the home dwelling so much and felt like she was a burden. She became sick, was hospitalized and passed away on March 30, 2016. Caring for her was the greatest honor I have ever been awarded. My mom was loving, caring, a cheerleader for all and never left anyone with making them smile. Although is is greatly missed, she will forever live in my heart. I lost my job while caring for her, my employer needed me at work, but my mom needed me more. I was forced to resign, but I do not regret the decision. I only regret not being able to be my mom's caregiver for a longer period of time. My mother would have been eighty years old on July 12, 2016. It is true, love never dies. I would do it all over again. To everyone caring for a loved one, I think you are the "greatest" and want to say; never give up.
