The Great Outdoors

Ahh, nature! It’s missed you. And there is no better way to relax and recharge than amid mountains, lakes, beaches, or deserts. One option – visit a national park you haven’t explored yet. Consider one of the less-visited parks, so you can enjoy the stunning landscapes without the crowds. Visit Great Basin in Nevada, Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado, or Kings Canyon in California.

Try a new sport like windsurfing or kayaking, or test your bouldering skills. When you vacation in an RV, you never need to regret the road not taken. Every trip promises the opportunity to hike or bike on trails that offer spectacular views of coastlines or cityscapes, mountains or valleys, vineyards or meadows.

Go RVing Pro Tip: Your RV can store all your gear. So, for all those outdoor activities, be sure to take everything you need – helmets, bicycle pump, hiking poles, fly rods, maybe even a foldable kayak.

Foodie Adventure

Sharpen your knives, fuel up, and get ready to eat your way across America or sample the fare in every corner of your home state. Your RV is your license to explore your food passion in new ways and in new places. Enjoy farm-to-table meals you prepare in your RV using ingredients purchased on your travels. Try authentic tacos from a roadside stand. Indulge in funnel cake at the state fair or haute cuisine in an acclaimed new restaurant. Don’t forget to save your appetite to enjoy the fresh fish you caught, grilled over a campfire!

Love wine? Hundreds of vineyards across the country offer RV camping. If beer is your beverage of choice, you can also find RV campgrounds near craft breweries. Or, maybe this is the year you set out on that long dreamed-about quest to discover the best burger in the country.

Go RVing Pro Tip: Cooking in your RV is a delicious and affordable way to enjoy local, seasonal ingredients. For straight-from-the-farm veggies to accompany your freshly caught fish, visit a local farmers market. Remember to bring reusable bags, cash, and curiosity.

Exploring New Destinations

The beauty of an RV? You get to experience places dramatically different from home without leaving the comforts of home behind. Maybe your interests will lead you to a remote spot where you can bathe amid redwood groves or to the Smoky Mountains or Adirondacks for spectacular leaf peeping.

Don’t rule out urban adventures. Cities across the country have nearby campgrounds, and urban camping can be both much more comfy and way more affordable than staying in a pricey downtown hotel.

If you’re a history buff, there’s no more illuminating way to understand America’s past than a road trip to historical sites. Well-known destinations, like Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, and less familiar spots like Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in Auburn, New York, weave the rich tapestry of our nation.

Go RVing Pro Tip: If you’re planning on visiting several places, remember the 3-3-3 rule to keep your travels safe and enjoyable. Limit your miles to 300 per day or stop driving at 3 p.m., whichever comes first; make a rest stop every three hours; and stay at each destination for at least three days.

Traveling With the Family

Load up the kids, grandkids, and maybe the pets, too. Create new memories and camping traditions with a weekend RV getaway. Spontaneity rules and stress disappears when you don’t have to worry about reservations and checkout times. That means you’re free to enjoy a spur-of-the-moment stop at an orchard for apple picking or a hike to a waterfall.

Back at the RV park, there are activities for everyone – a playground for the young kids; mini golf, table tennis, and basketball hoops for the teens; hot tubs for the adults; and sunset campfire s’mores for everyone.

Or, consider a family RV getaway built around a visit to a hall of fame. Baseball or football, country music or rock and roll – you can find a hall of fame for a wide range of interests and hobbies. There’s even a hall of fame for RVs!

Go RVing Pro Tip: Plan ahead but be flexible. You’ll want to make your campground reservations as far in advance as possible and also research places to stop along the way. Keep an eye and ear open for those one-of-a-kind roadside attractions that make RV trips unforgettable.

Pursue your passions and expand your geographic horizons when you RV. Today’s recreational vehicles are low maintenance and easy to navigate, giving you access to all kinds of amazing vacation experiences.
