Helping someone with transportation challenges is a great way to give back

Without access to a car or the ability to drive, our friends, neighbors, and loved ones can feel seriously isolated. That's where you come in! Here are three easy actions to help someone who doesn't drive and might feel stuck at home and disconnected.

This is your mission – Whether we choose to accept it or not, running errands is a necessary part of life. Clothes have to get to the cleaners, groceries have to be bought, packages have to be mailed. While there are plenty of on-demand services out there, there's not really a more efficient way to take care of business than getting in the car and knocking out those tasks. Next time you head out, offer to bring someone along who doesn't drive and might enjoy getting out of the house, or do double duty, and combine your errands with theirs.

Making house calls – There's nothing worse than feeling cut off from the world. If you know someone who doesn't drive or have access to reliable transportation, an offer to bring them out and about can be a huge gesture of kindness. Whether it's a visit to the park, an afternoon at the library, a ride to meet friends for coffee, or an evening at the movies, your car and willingness to offer a ride can be a vital connection to the outside world.

Deliver the world – If you know someone who is house-bound and without transportation, bring the world to them! Come bearing a delivery of groceries, current magazines, new bedding plants for the window boxes, or take along your best friend and see their eyes light up.
