Hitting the Ground Walking

The Groundwork Bridgeport Walking Club used its AARP Community Challenge funds to host three intergenerational walking events with the goal of connecting Bridgeport residents of all ages. The gathering included walks through the city's downtown and along its waterfront. Use of the AARP Walk Audit Tool Kit helped identify the walking destinations as well as areas that need improvement. Participating pedestrians and the volunteers who placed the temporary wayfinding signs helped collect litter as they walked.
