Volunteer for Exciting Michigan Positions

AARP Michigan has an exciting year planned for 2004 with your help. We're looking for folks - full or part-time - who are willing to talk to their state legislators or members of Congress, fight fraud against older Michiganians, talk about long-term care issues, teach driver safety, help people prepare their income tax returns, and help out in the AARP Michigan State Office.
Here's why we need you:
- AARP Michigan is a leader in efforts to reform the state's long-term care system. We need volunteers willing to talk to groups about the need for change. When we introduce reforms at the State Capitol, you can call legislators and speak knowledgeably about our proposals.
- Scams and swindles against the elderly are becoming rampant. Volunteers are needed to report known scams and serve as community informants against fraudulent activities.
- Grassroots volunteers are invaluable in contacting their legislators when laws need to be passed - or opposed.
- Our safe driving program needs instructors who can help folks meet the challenges of aging.
- Tax Aide is a valuable service for low-income people, administered through the AARP Foundation. The AARP Foundation is recruiting people with the right experience to help those who need to know what credits and deductions are available and help them file their returns.
To get involved call (517) 267-8913 or email miaarp@aarp.org. We'll make sure that you find an exciting volunteer position that enables you to serve the community.
