AARP's community service programs offer a variety of volunteer opportunities related to program management, administration and operations. More than 40,000 AARP program volunteers bring a variety of skills and experience to their positions in service to their communities.

AARP Tax-Aide
AARP Tax-Aide now helps nearly 1.9 million low- and middle-income individuals, with special attention to those 60 and older, with tax preparation. This program is administered through the AARP Foundation at nearly 8,600 sites across the country. Many of these sites now e-file. Learn about volunteer opportunities in your area, ask your tax questions online or, during the February 1 through April 15 tax season—find a site near you.

AARP Driver Safety Program
The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest driver refresher course specially designed for drivers age 50 and older. The program's 10,000 volunteers are the reason for its impressive success. Learn about volunteer opportunities in your area and then complete the online application form. AARP Chapters
AARP Chapters offer a face-and heart-for the Association locally. As a strategic link between members, communities and AARP programs and services, chapters bring members a variety of community service, education, leadership and fellowship opportunities. Chapter community service activities range from participation in national AARP programs to local mentoring and tutoring projects, food and clothing drives, friendly visits and much more. AARP chapters are well positioned to provide direct support for AARP State Office goals and also combine forces with groups like Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House and Meals on Wheels to make life better in communities where members live and work. NRTA: AARP's Educator Community
Working with local retired educators' associations, NRTA's With Our Youth! program helps adults respond to the needs of school children and the broader community. Through partnerships, volunteers serve in a range of roles from helping high school students prepare for writing exams to providing school supplies. NRTA is the new home for a range of multi-generational activities available to all AARP members. Individuals can learn basic computer skills from youth or provide classroom assistance at local schools. The NRTA Educator Support Network, recently launched nationwide, is another community service initiative which enables retired educators to mentor and support beginning teachers in the classroom.

AARP Grief and Loss Programs
