What drives you to do good? We all have a little hero in us.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them hide in plain sight behind the wheel of a car, keys in hand, ready to pull over at a moment's notice and give back in one way or another. Do you have a little hero in you? You may be surprised to learn that you just might. Read on to see which one of these profiles best describes you, and get helpful tips to help you continue doing the good that drives you.

The Caregiver

On call anytime, day or night, for everything from nursing twisted ankles to changing lightbulbs, the caregiver shows up with hugs and warm meals, and is always ready to offer rides to the doctor, or a trip to the grocery store.

3 Tips for a Caregiver

  1. Carve out time for yourself to relax and re-energize – try meditation or yoga
  2. Caregiving isn’t an easy job, so find a support network that can help with tasks and guide you through unchartered waters
  3. You rely on your car – just like that special someone relies on you – so make sure you keep up with maintenance and have roadside assistance to get you moving again quickly if you run into car trouble

The Community Volunteer

Many hands help to create and maintain a vibrant and healthy community. Whether it's with Meals On Wheels or the local Bookmobile, the community volunteer is the first to jump in when something needs doing. For this hero, a car is more than transportation – it’s a tool that makes it possible to serve others, wherever the need may be.

3 Tips for a Community Volunteer

  1. Spread the good news: by being an advocate for your favorite local organization, you may help inspire others to get involved too
  2. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Focus on the projects that align with your skill set and interests
  3. Review your road emergency kit to make sure it’s complete and allows you to easily attend to any situations that may arise

The Roadside Rescuer

When a roadside emergency strikes, the “Good Hands Rescuer” is there willing and able to help. Though they often don’t know what to expect until they arrive, these heroes sign up to help people and give back to their communities in a positive way.

3 Tips for a Roadside Rescuer

  1. Be sure to always keep yourself safe first so you can help others
  2. Helping with a battery charge or changing a tire is one thing, but in a real emergency always call 911 for help
  3. Your vehicle is your lifeline to helping others. Make sure to have water, blankets and a flashlight, along with a fully supplied first aid kit, at your disposal
