Hurricanes Helene and Milton Disaster Relief Fund Helps Seniors

Thanks to individual donors and matching funds from AARP, AARP Foundation distributed nearly $1.5 million in emergency grants to help seniors in need.

When Hurricanes Helene and Milton ripped through the Carolinas, Florida and other nearby states, they left a trail of destruction in their wake.

Thanks to donors and matching funds from AARP, nearly $1.5 million in emergency grants have been distributed. Through the work of the organizations below, donations helped those affected get immediate relief — including food, water and shelter — and is helping seniors repair their homes, access legal aid and obtain financial support:

●       Pinellas Community Foundation (Florida)

●       United Way of Southwest Virginia

●       Golden Harvest Food Bank (Georgia)

●       Spartanburg County Foundation (South Carolina)

●       North Carolina Association of Area Agencies on Aging

●       Beloved Asheville (North Carolina)

●       Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity (North Carolina)

●       Pisgah Legal Services (North Carolina)

●       SBP (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina)
